The museum was initiated in 1910 set presentnyayo house, later moved to current serena hotel in search for much bigger space. In 1929 the colonial government set aside land at current museum hill where construction work started, and was eventually opened in September 1922, and named after sir Robert coryondon one time governor in Kenya.



Overview

In 1963 after independence it was renamed national museums of Kenya. The museum was renovated between 20005 and 2008 to reopen in June2008 as an impressive and magnificent master piece under the current name Nairobi National museums. The artworks and materials used for outdoor sculptures,landscaping and the botanic gardens display the four pillars of Kenya’snational heritage,-nature,culture,history and contemporary art.
