Makilands representative will Pick you up from your hotel after breakfast and transfer to Wilson airport for your flight to Samburu park. You will fly over lush farmlands in central and eastern kenya with occasional glimpses of the snow caped Mt. Kenya before dropping down to the Northern frntier district in the Samburu Game Reserve. You will be met by our representative for transfer to the lodge or camp. You’ll have lunch and freshen up for an afternoon game drive to see the rare species like grevy zebra, reticulated giraffe, long-necked gerenuk,Beisa oryx,and the blue legged ostrich among many others.

Yatta Plateau which is the longest lava flow in the world ,lugard falls and large herds of mammals and predators which include elephants ,buffalo, rhino waterbucks , lesser Kudu ,leopard ,lion, cheetah, hippo, crocodile and also over 500 recorded bird species are thrilling to watch .You will have your meals and overnight stay at camp or lodge.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Nanyuki Airstrip and fly over the great Rift Valley heading towards the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya’s most visited reserve. Masai mara is known for huge concentration of game and the great migration and great scenes as shown in the world famous movie “Out of Africa”. Athrilling game drive ensues in search of the mara residents till evening when you return for dinner and overnight in lodge or camp.

Take breakfast at lodge and leave for full day with picnic lunches and venture into the rolling savannah grassland for thrilling game drives in Search of the Big five and other plains game including the zebra, wildebeest, grants gazelle, and enjoy the prolific bird life.You will enjoy a thrilling lunch in the bush as you settle by the mara river for your well deserved meal where you will marvel at the massive hippos enjoy the cool waters and sub merge at the sound approaching vehicles as the crocodiles sunbathe on the river banks mouths agape. The mara is one of the best places to visit with high chances of sighting the big five in a single morning.

Maasai Mara Game Reserve

Maasai Mara National Reserve stretches 1,510 sq km (580 sq miles) and raises 1,500-2,170 meters above sea level. Add the conservancies and the area is at least twice the size. It hosts over 95 species of mammals and over 570 recorded species of birds. It’s about 270 km from the capital Nairobi City and takes about 4-5 hours by road or 40-45 minutes by flight. The road is great for the most part with only a short section from Narok town to Sekenani Gate that is all weather but accessible. Maasai Mara Game Reserve is most visited park and most famous in Kenya for its huge concentration of wildlife.

While here you get to see the big five which include elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino. Also you get to witness the migration of the wildebeest (8th wonder of the world) which happens annually in the months of July and late October. Maasai Mara has the largest population of animals in Kenya making it easy to see all members of the big five in a single morning. Other animals include bat eared fox, spotted hyena, impala, elephants, hippos, grey jackals etc.

Samburu National Reserve

Most famous Kenya’s wild animals are found here from the lion, leopards, buffalo, cheetahs, Gravy’s zebra hippos to the giraffe. The presence of River Ewasonyiro cutting across the reserve attracts more animals including the crocodiles. This reserve has its fame from the unique Grevy’s zebra, long neck gerenuk, BeisaOrynx and reticulated giraffe. Another source of its fame is due to the movie “Born Free” and as the place where the conservationists George an d Joy Adamson raised Elsa the Lioness.
