Day 1Nairobi / Nakuru National Park
Arrival & welcome in Nairobi by a Makiland Tours and Safaris guide who after briefing will drive you to Lake Nakuru national park with a short stop over at the Great Rift Valley viewing point for an excellent view of this extinct volcanic activity site. You will be driven on through the floor of the Great Rift Valley to your dream safari destination, the flamingo city, arriving in time for lunch.
Refresh and subsequently engage in a memorable afternoon game drive in this great park in search of the four members of the big five found in Nakuru apart from the elephant. Here you also get to see the famous flamingoes, as well as the giraffes and other animals.
Day 2Nakuru National Park / Aberdares National Park
You will wake up to an early morning game drive then return for a hearty breakfast in the lodge ready to depart thereafter for the Aberdares National Park in your comfortable 4x4 with your friendly Makiland driver. Thomson falls on the Aberdare ranges in Nyahururu forms a brief stop-over before arriving in
Aberdares National park which prides itself with excellent game viewing from the waterholes in time for lunch in the lodge / camp. Refresh briefly after lunch then set off to a memorable afternoon guided nature walk in the park. You will have your meals and overnight stay at camp or lodge.
Day 3Full day -Aberdares
Enjoy a wonderful picnic day in these cool ridges with professional guides. Also you will enjoy activities like trout fishing in the rivers and camping in the moorlands. You also get to enjoy rare sightings of Forest hog bongo, golden cat, serval cat, African Wild Cat etc.
Situated in thick forested area, you can stay up all night long, game viewing from a variety of observation decks or specially located underground observation bunker. The ark is situated beside a floodlit waterhole and natural saltlick, where a constant parade of wildlife will venture throughout the night. The lodges provide game drives in the 4x4 safari land cruisers for excellent game viewing.
Day 4Aberdare / Mt. Kenya
After a scrumptious breakfast in the lodge/camp, you will then depart driving north across the equator for Mt.Kenya National Park. On arrival ,you will check in to your hotel ,take lunch and a short rest after which you will enjoy your afternoon watching game including the big five as they line up at the lodges water hole and later take part in a nature walk in the park up the montane forest for detailed
information about the different plant and animal species inhabiting this forest and the various bird species found in this peaceful and heavenly gem in eastern central Kenya in company of the guide in the afternoon till evening where you continue the show enjoying wildlife viewing through a flood lit water hole. You will continuously enjoy excellent views of the snowy rocks and glaciers on the peak of Mt Kenya from the comfort of your balcony.
Day 5Mt. Kenya/Nairobi
On taking breakfast you will depart to Nairobi where you will have your lunch in Carnivore Restaurant or similar with an exciting city expedition if time allows. Thereafter you will be taken to the Jomo Kenyatta Airport for your onward flight back home.
Lake Nakuru National Park
Located 160km away and taking only two and half hour drive from Nairobi, is the rift valleys most visited Lake Nakuru National Park the home of world famous flamingoes. It has flocks of both greater and lesser flamingoes at particular times of the year painting the lake a beautiful pink. You also get to enjoy the attractive range of wooded and bush grassland, escarpments and ridges round the lake offering a wide ecological diversity which is home to all members of the big five apart from the elephant and over 450 difference species of birds the fish-eating, terrestrial and migratory birds including grebes, white winged black, stilts, avocets, ducks, and in the European winter, the migrant waders.
Lake Nakuru national park has successful rhino sanctuary, harboring a population of over 40 black and 60 white rhinos, together with the flamingoes positioning Nakuru as a major tourist destination in Africa.
Thompson's Falls located in Nyahururu a rich agricultural area, Found on the Ewaso Narok river a tributary of the Ewasonyiro river which drains from the aberdare ranges, the fall drops in a beautiful cascade 74 metres high, attracting many visitors including the first European to walk from Mombasa to Lake Victoria Joseph Thomson, who came across the waterfall in 1883 which he named Thomson's Falls after his father. Activities here include exploring the waterfall by a challenging nature walk down to the foot of the fall a fete only accomplished by the strong willed, walk to the Hippo point to look at the hippos on upper side of the fall, bird watching or just relax and enjoy the cool breeze from the hotel lawns both sides of the fall as you take your memorable photographs.
Aberdare National Park
The Aberdare mountain ranges and peaks rises to around 12,900ft (3,930m) giving way to deep V-shaped valleys with streams and rivers meandering over spectacular waterfalls making this area a must visit for landscape and nature lovers. From its vital catchment area the Aberdare Rainforest feeds the entire local and Nairobi water supply.This park is home for elephants, leopards, olive baboons, black and white Columbus monkeys, buffalos, black spotted hyenas, bushbucks and many others. While here one can have a chance to have the rare sights like the serval cat, African wild cat, African civet cat and blue duiker. Activities include trout fishing, picnics and camping in the moorlands. For those who are into bird watching can have a time of their life with over 250 species of birds reported in the park like the sunbirds ,goshawks, eagles, Jackson’s Francolin, Sparrow hawks and plovers. Mount Kenya National Park
This park comprises of 715 square kilometers filled by the beauty of nature a lot of which you get to enjoy from the comfort of your suite. Mount Kenya, at 5199m (17,058ft) the country's highest mountain has its higher slopes permanently covered in snow and ice, even though it sits astride the equator. Mt Kenya is an old extinct volcano that is made up of three peaks; Batian (the highest), Nelion and Lenana. While here you can have the pleasure of climbing to the second highest point in Africa and have your breath taking moment camping and caving within the mountain’s rugged glacier-clad peaks a feat accomplished in 1899 by Sir Halford Mackinder, the first European to climb Mt Kenya. Mt. Kenya National Park is located to the east of the Great Rift Valley, about 180km North-East of Nairobi. The ecosystem lies in Central and Eastern provinces of Kenya with its Northern flanks across the Equator. Mt. Kenya is an important water tower in the country providing water for about 50% of the country’s population and produces 70% of Kenya’s hydroelectric power.
