Day 1Nairobi / Mt. Kenya
You will be welcomed after landing in Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by Makiland Tours and Safaris representative. Without any delays you will be driven out of the city through the pineapple plantation in Thika and past Karatina in Central Kenya Highlands where we have the largest open air market in East Africa to Mt Kenya arriving on time for lunch at the famous Mt Kenya safari club.
It is set on the Equator with magnificent views of Mt. Kenya, occupying over 100 acres of neat lawns, with lovely gardens and colorful ponds which parade free roaming peacocks and lovely scenery.
After lunch enjoy your game viewing from the comfort of your room in the lodge or have leisure enjoying activities like horse riding, playing tennis, playing golf, putting green, croquet, heated swimming pool, trout fishing, as well as an art gallery, health & beauty parlour, boutique, club shops and the William Holden Animal orphanage.
Day 2Mt. Kenya / Aberdares National Park
After breakfast, drive to the Aberdares National Park in the Aberdares Ranges. We expect to arrive at Aberdare country Club on time for lunch. Later you will be transferred to the Ark by lodge vehicle. The Ark is set at the heart of the Aberdare National Park,
in thick woodland overlooking the yasabara waterhole-the salt-lick in the Aberdare Mountains.
. This tree-lodge is shaped to resemble Noah’s Ark, designed with viewing decks, balconies and lounges providing perfect night game watching as the animals turn up for the predictable religious session at the water hole.
Day 3Aberdares - Full Day
A day full of leisure while enjoying lodge facilities and exciting game viewing from the lodge/camp facilities. Other activities include trout fishing, bird viewing, picnics and camping in the moorland.
Day 4Aberdare / Lake Nakuru National Park
Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast and depart thereafter for Lake Nakuru National Park, driving through the scenic central part of Kenya with a brief stopover at the famous Thompson Falls for a short photography experience. Arrive in Nakuru on time for Lunch there after a short rest to be followed by a thrilling afternoon game drive till dusk.
Day 5L. Nakuru / Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Game drives will commence early in the morning after which breakfast will follow. You will then head to Maasai Mara where you will arrive on time for your lunch. Game drives will then commence after a cat nap.
Day 6Maasai Mara - Full day
This will be a full day of unlimited game drive in the reserve. Exciting scenes of the big five and other game will make Mara a memorable destination for you.
Day 7Maasai Mara / Nairobi
You will go for an early morning game drive before anything else on this day. After this, you will take your breakfast, and then drive to Nairobi arriving on time for lunch at the carnivore or similar.
You will later be taken to the JKIA airport for your onward flight.
Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Maasai Mara is one of the main and most visited parks and is a must inclusion in most itineraries in Kenyan safaris. While here you get to see the big five which include elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino. Also you get to witness the migration of the wildebeest (8th wonder of the world) which happens annually in the months of July and late October. Maasai Mara has the largest population of animals in Kenya. Other animals include bat eared fox, spotted hyena, impala, elephants, hippos, grey jackals etc.
Lake Nakuru National Park
The park is found, 140km north-west of Nairobi, in Nakuru county rift valley province. It covers an area of 188 km2. Lake Nakuru is shallow alkaline lake occupying an area of 62 km square. It is set in a serene landscape of surrounding woodland and grassland and marshy areas alternating with rocky cliffs and hillsides outcrops, acacia woodland covered with a Euphorbia forest on the eastern perimeter. Lake Nakuru was first gazetted as a bird sanctuary in 1960 and upgraded to National Park status in 1968. A northern extension was added to the park in 1974 and the lake was designated as a Ramsar site in 1990. The foundation of the parks food chains is the cyanophyte spirulina platensis which can support huge numbers of lesser flamingo.
Climate ranges from Cold, Hot and Humid, Hot and Dry. Annual rainfall is 965 mm. Major Attractions include Flamingo (Greater and Lesser) and other water birds including a variety of terrestrial birds numbering about 450 species in total. Mammals: 56 different species including white rhinos.
View-points: Lion hill, Baboon cliff and Out of Africa and Hills like Enasoit, Honeymoon, Lion hill ridge are major attractions as well as Makalia Waterfalls and the Unique vegetation where About 550 different plant species are represented including the unique and biggest euphorbia forest in Africa, Picturesque landscape and yellow acacia woodlands.
Aberdare National Park
This place is home for elephants, leopards, olive baboons, black and white Columbus monkeys,buffalos , black spotted ,hyenas bushbucks and others. While here one can have a chance to have the rare sights like the serval cat, African wild cat, African civet cat and blue duiker. Activities include trout fishing, picnics and camping in the moorlands. For those who are into bird watching can have a time of their life with over 250 species of birds in the park like the sunbirds goshawks, eagles, Jackson’s Francolin, Sparrow hawks and plovers.
Mount Kenya National Park
Mount Kenya National Park consist of 715 square kilometers filled by the beauty of nature a lot of which you get to enjoy from the comfort of your suite. While here you can have the pleasure of climbing to the second highest point in Africa and have your breath taking moment with nice scenery at pure lakes, mineral springs, glaciers etc. You will also have the pleasure of watching some of the endangered species of animals, including high altitude adapted plains game and unique montane and alpine vegetation. Activities here include; mountain climbing, camping and caving with the mountain’s rugged glacier-clad peaks.
