Day 1Insight Into Nairobi.
Airport pick up and transfer to your Nairobi Hotel /Guest house and you will be given a brief on the program. If you arrive early, we take an afternoon city tour, with a visit to the Bomas of Kenya for some insight about our Kenyan culture and diversity. Later return to your guesthouse for dinner and your accommodation.
You will enjoy lunch at the ancient wasini island which serves finger licking traditional Swahili cuisine comprising : fish and rice served with excellently done coconut cubes, crab , fish fresh from the fisherman's basket,or optional spicy chicken, with rice or chapati with an optional traditionally done vegetable serving for the vegetarian.Explore the preserved Swahili style village of wasini in a guided visit for insight into the local way of life before heading back to your dhow for a thrilling sailing back shimoni and eventually drop off at your resort.
Day 2 - 8Internship Programme Participation
Rotation in the various departments in the clinics where you will help out in daily activities in laboratory, theatreoutreach clinics etc for the next one week. Weighing, taking vitals like temperature, blood pressure taking blood samples, dressing wounds, injections etc
Outpatient clinics like mch, where you doCounseling for the patients and their families,Testing &counseling HIV/AIDS, Family planning, maternity-Helping out in the delivery ward/delivery room. Volunteers will be introduced to the project where you will, rotate in various medical departments starting with an introduction to the administration and the departmental in charges, staff in the local hospitals and health centres.
Day 9Visit Children's Home
You will visit a children home, where after introduction to the staff and orientation you work with the children and the staff in the facility. Spend the day in the children home assisting with the day’s activities, as you enjoy the company of these innocent angels, where you share songs,games,drama,skits name it for all will help you to bond and interact with the children spreading joy and love to mankind.
Our local field staff will help coordinate your activities and extend any help that you may require .Evening evaluate the program as you bid good bye to your host ready for your safari the following morning.
Day 10Nairobi - Maasai Mara
You will wake up early take breakfast then depart for Maasai Mara Game Reserve in the rift valleywith a stopover at the great rift valley view point learn about the rift valley which extends from middleeast to Mozambique.
You will arrive on time for lunch ,then a short siesta followed by a thrilling game drive in the rolling grasslands of the Kenya's premier park the MasaiMara .It is here that the famous annual wildebeest migration of over a million animals between Mara in Kenya and the Serengeti in Tanzania takes place each year. Dinner and overnight will bein your camp/lodge.
Day 11Maasai Mara Full Day
Spend the day game viewingacross the Marawhich is renowned for the high concentration of game including the big five,the wildebeest, zebras, giraffes, gazelles,and other plains game. The Mara is liked for being easy to spot all animals with a high possibility of spotting the big five in a single morning!
Making it Kenya's finest and premier wildlife sanctuary as well as a prolific bird lifeincluding migrants, with well over 250 other bird species recorded here. The Masaiwho are nomadic live within the area in their manyattas in the surrounding area of the game reserve where they co-exist together with the wildlife. You will be treated to lunch in the bush by the Mara River where you enjoy exciting scenes of massive hippos and crocodiles basking by the river banks.Dinner will be served at the campsite and overnight.
Day 12Maasai Mara - Nairobi
Wake up early at 0600hrs for the pre morning game drive and then return to the lodge or camp for breakfast, there after check out and depart Masai Mara and head back to Nairobi stopping in Narok for lunch, there after proceed to Nairobi arriving in the afternoon where you are taken to the Airport for your outbound flight home.
This is an adventurous trip combining education, leisure and humanitarian benefits as it allows you to spend valuable time during your career break in giving back to society. This program benefits students in various professional backgrounds from medicine, agriculture, education, engineering etc where you are expected to participate in community based activities for a life changing mission. You will take part in a medical camp or school building volunteering program in rural Kenya. Use your vocational skills to change the lives of rural communities who otherwise don’t have access to sufficient healthcare services.
Medical Volunteer internship Project in Kenya will place you in medical institution where you will participate the daily activities including outreach programs offering public health education, advocacy on prevention of communicable diseases, sanitation, treating children and adults with jiggers, Dental treatment and oral health, giving immunizations ,family planning, treatment such as dressing wounds, deworming, weighing children, taking patients' histories and vitals, counseling patients on various issues giving first aid, observing major and specialized surgeries etc. The medical intern volunteers will work under the supervision of local doctors, nurses, laboratory technologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nutritionists, and other medical professionals in local health facilities and other various clinics, homes for the aged, orphanages, rehabilitation centers etc
