Day 1Nairobi / Mt. Kenya
You will be welcomed after landing in Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by a Makiland Tours and Safaris representative. You will be briefed about your safari after which you will be driven through Central Kenya Highlands towards Mt Kenya. While here you will be able to enjoy your game viewing from the comfort of your room in the lodge after lunch.

Day 2Mt. Kenya / Samburu National Reserve
You will leave for Samburu National Reserve after breakfast. On arrival you will have lunch and a short rest after which you will be driven around for an afternoon game drive.
Day 3Samburu National Reserve - Full Day
The day will start with morning game drives after which you will return to the lodge for breakfast. There after you will embark on a game drive just to get back to the lodge in time for lunch and a short rest then continue with the afternoon game drives.
Day 4Samburu / Lake Nakuru National Park
Early morning game drives will start in the reserve. After the game drive you will go back for breakfast after which you will depart for Lake Nakuru National Park. On arrival there will be lunch at the lodge/camp and after a short rest a game drive will follow till evening.
Day 5L. Nakuru / Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Start the day with early pre breakfast game drives in the park. Return to lodge for breakfast then depart for MaasaiMara. On arriving in Maasai Mara you will have lunch and a short cat nap.
Day 6Maasai Mara - Full day
On this day you get to enjoy full day unlimited game drives in the reserve. This will be an exciting day to see the Mara residents including the big five as well as the famous wildebeest.
Day 7Maasai Mara / Nairobi
After an early morning game drive you will take breakfast and drive towards Nairobi with lunch enroute at a stopover and arrive in the afternoon.
On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel or JKIA for your flight home.
Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Maasai Mara (Masai Mara) is Africa's Greatest Wildlife Reserve, and actually Kenya’s best and most popular safari destination situated in southwest region in Narok County the home of Masai community well known for their distinctive cultural practices, dress and conservation efforts.
Masai Mara was voted as the 8th wonder of the world as a result of the spectacular wildebeest migration, where millions of wildebeests and thousands of zebras move north in search of pasture migrating to and from Serengeti to Maasai Mara National Reserve with memorable scenes of hundreds of animals giving birth while others are killed by waiting predators and others drown while diving in the raging waters as they cross the crocodile ravaged Mara river which is the spectacle at Mara.
Famous for the abundance of the big five and other animals with over 200 bird species reported, Masai Mara is a dream destination for most of makiland’s Tour and Safari guests making it a must inclusion in most of our itineraries. Other animals found here include bat eared fox, spotted hyena, impala, hippos, grey jackals etc.
Maasai Mara National Reserve stretches 1,510 sq km (580 sq miles) rising 1,500-2,170 meters above sea level. The terrain of the reserve is characterized by scenic rolling open grassland plains and a green riverine forest with bush thickets and whistling acacia trees. It's about 270 km from the capital city Nairobi taking about 5-6 hours by road or 40-45 minutes by flight.
Lake Nakuru National Park
The park is found, 140km north-west of Nairobi, in Nakuru county rift valley province. It covers an area of 188 km2. Lake Nakuru is a shallow alkaline lake occupying an area of 62 km2. It is set in a serene landscape of surrounding woodland and grassland and marshy areas alternating with rocky cliffs and hillsides outcrops, acacia woodland covered with a Euphorbia forest on the eastern perimeter. Lake Nakuru was first gazetted as a bird sanctuary in 1960 and upgraded to National Park status in 1968. A northern extension was added to the park in 1974 and the lake was designated as a Ramsar site in 1990. The foundation of the parks food chains is the cyanophyte spirulina platensis which can support huge numbers of lesser flamingo.
Climate ranges from Cold, Hot and Humid, Hot and Dry. Annual rainfall is 965 mm.
Major Attractions include: Flamingo (Greater and Lesser) and other water birds including a variety of terrestrial birds numbering about 450 species in total. Mammals: 56 different species including white rhinos.
View-points: Lion hill, Baboon cliff and Out of Africa and Hills like Enasoit, Honeymoon, Lion hill ridge are major attractions as well as Makalia Waterfalls and the Unique vegetation where About 550 different plant species are represented including the unique and biggest euphorbia forest in Africa, Picturesque landscape and yellow acacia woodlands.
Mount Kenya National Park
715 square kilometers filled by the beauty of nature a lot of which you get to enjoy from the comfort of your suite. While here you can have the pleasure of climbing to the second highest point in Africa and have your breath taking moment. You will have the pleasure of having a good look at the pure lakes, mineral springs, glaciers etc. You will also have the pleasure of watching some of the endangered species of animals, high altitude adapted plains game and unique montane and alpine vegetation. While here, you will enjoy activities like mountain climbing, camping and caving with the mountain’s rugged glacier-clad peaks.
Samburu National Reserve
Samburu national reserve consists of narrow riverine woodland of dwarf palm and acacia trees with, grassland, and scrubland. Most of the big five are found here from the famous lion, leopards, buffalo, cheetahs, hippos to the giraffe and a thriving bird population. Due to the river Ewaso Nyiro that cuts into the reserve supporting a big population of wild animals including the crocodile, this reserve has become a major tourist destination. This reserve has its fame from the unique Grevy’szebra, long neck gerenuk, Beisaoryx and reticulated giraffe. Another source of its fame is due to the movie “Born Free” and also as one of the places where the conservationists George and Joy Adamson raised Elsa the Lioness. Birdlife is prolific at Samburu National Reserve, boasting over 350 different species of bird including vultures, kingfishers, marabous, bateleurs, guinea fowl, Somali ostriches and others.
