Lake Manyara National Park
Despite being one of the smallest parks in Tanzania, It encloses within it a diverse range of landscapes and animal population too. It is also a place of numerous microclimates. Around the Soda Lake you will find animals like rock-climbing klipspringer and the famous dik-dik. There is also a narrow strip of acacia woodland and area of grassland which is seasonal i.e. changes from rich grazing lawns to golden, dry grass savannah. Normally this place has every animal’s ecological niche e.g. while the place is green animals like wildebeest, zebra, cape buffalos and warthogs come into the area to feed. While it is dry animals like the elephant, ostrich and giraffe can be seen. Acacia and mahogany woodlands are food to the elephants, monkeys and giraffes which later after feeding go out to wander out to the saltlicks and receding lake. While here you will see elephants which walk in herds with offspring under their mothers belly for protection against predators and for a quick feed anytime.
Serengeti National Reserve
Climate in Serengeti is defined by the presence of dry and wet seasons. There are plenty of grass plains in the south which are get the phosphate ions from the volcanic ash rich. There is also some island crops or kopjes of eroded granite. This is a habitat for animals such as the rare black rhinoceros. Not forgetting the famous wildebeests that have an outstanding annual Great Migration. This movement affects the other animals in the ecosystem eg the predators like the lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
Tarangire National Park
What makes Tarangire National Park noted as a valuable destination for safari is the migration animals do during the dry season from June to October with a variety of hoofed animals due to the presence of the main tributaries of river. Up to 250 000 mammals migrate during this dry season. Up to 10000 elephants are anticipated, kongoni, buffalo, gazelles watchful eland, hump-backed wildebeest and fringe-eared oryx. This place is not strictly restricted and hence it is mainly owned by the Maasai people. This helps the cultural identity be maintained and also accompanied with a balance of eco-tourism and wildlife protection. Although there is an influx of animals during the dry period from other parks there are large numbers of the giraffe, warthog ,impala ,waterbuck and dikdik that remain in the park throughout the year. Tarangire is also a home of the birds up to 550 birds species making it a bird watcher’s paradise.
This place has a variance in the microclimates present giving home to over 30, 000 mammals. These mammals form an ecosystem with a wide range of prey and predators which in no doubt create that interesting sight during hunting. Prey animals include wildebeests and well rounded zebras while the predators group has lions, leopards, jackals, hyenas and cheetahs. It also has its smaller animals and birds. This caldera came from the two million year old collapsed volcano which form a height of 2000 feet. The Ngorongoro Crater is also part of the ecosystem that is Serengeti National Park and has since its separation been a big promotion to human and wildlife conflict as the nomadic pastoralist had their problems solved and also gave that beautiful African culture theme to the tourist industry. Along with the Ngorongoro crater one may visit other volcanoes like the Empakai with its central lake and Olmoti with those exuberant waterfalls going down 500 ft along the escarpment forest, OlDoinyoLengai and here one can see the results of the 2007 eruption. While here one gets to have a look at the prehistoric Olduvai Gorge where evolution emphasis has touch and not also forgetting the culture one will meet and learn here where you have the Masai who have been here since the 17th Century and have since then been nomads and needless to say specialist in herding cattle.
